General
What does Hydra Agents do?
Hydra Agents is a private intelligence, investigation and field operations company. We help individuals, companies, law firms and organisations establish the facts before a decision is made, whether that means investigating a person or company, verifying a claim on the ground, or assessing a partner before a transaction.
Is my enquiry confidential?
Yes. Every enquiry is read personally by a senior member of the team and treated in strict confidence. For sensitive matters we can move to a secure channel before any detail is exchanged.
How quickly will you respond?
We typically respond within one business day. Urgent matters are prioritised, and you can indicate urgency when you start a case.
Do you take every case?
No. Every enquiry receives an honest assessment of what can realistically be established before any work begins. If a matter is not lawful, not feasible, or not a good fit, we will tell you and, where possible, point you towards someone who can help.
Investigations
What is the difference between investigations and intelligence?
Intelligence is information and capability: what can be established, from which sources and with what confidence. Investigation is the active work of establishing the facts of a specific matter, gathering evidence to a standard that can be relied upon. In practice the two are combined on most cases. See Investigations and Intelligence.
Can you investigate a person or company without their knowledge?
Much of the work is conducted from public, licensed and lawfully obtained sources, so the subject is typically unaware. Where direct contact or field verification is required, it is carried out lawfully and proportionately, in accordance with the law of the jurisdiction concerned.
Can your findings be used in legal proceedings?
Where instructed, evidence is collected and documented to a standard suitable for legal and commercial use, and we coordinate with your legal advisers on how it should be presented. Suitability for any specific proceeding is ultimately a matter for your lawyers.
How long does an investigation take?
It depends on the matter, the jurisdictions involved and how much is already known. We give a realistic timeframe as part of the initial assessment, before any work begins.
Intelligence and Records
Can you check whether someone is subject to an Interpol Red Notice or similar alert?
We can search public and official sources for wanted person and enforcement records, where these are publicly available or accessible through licensed data providers. Availability varies by jurisdiction, and every report states clearly where a search could not be completed. See Intelligence.
Do you have access to restricted police, government or intelligence databases?
No. Hydra does not claim access to restricted police, government or intelligence databases. Our work relies on lawful open sources, licensed data and human enquiry, and where a record needs to be confirmed in person it extends to field verification.
What is the difference between intelligence and due diligence?
Intelligence is information and capability. Due diligence is an investigative assessment made for a decision, drawing on intelligence and framing it around a specific transaction, appointment or relationship, with a conclusion at the end. See Due Diligence.
How reliable is the information you provide?
Every finding is graded by reliability. Hydra distinguishes verified official records from allegations, rumours and unverified online information, so you know how much weight each finding can bear.
Due Diligence
What is enhanced due diligence?
Enhanced due diligence is a deeper level of assessment used where the risk, value or sensitivity of a matter calls for it, typically combining intelligence, digital analysis and, where required, field verification beyond what a standard check would cover.
Can you verify who really owns or controls a company?
Yes. Corporate due diligence and corporate intelligence both examine ownership, directors, beneficial ownership and connected entities, drawing on official filings, licensed data and, where needed, further enquiry.
Do you visit suppliers or premises in person?
Where a claim needs to be confirmed rather than assumed, we can arrange a physical site visit or supplier verification through our field operations practice, in the relevant country.
Digital Assets and Crypto
Can you recover stolen cryptocurrency?
Hydra investigates the movement of digital assets and identifies realistic avenues for intervention or recovery. Recovery cannot be guaranteed and depends on the circumstances, counterparties, jurisdiction and available legal or operational remedies. Where no workable avenue exists, we say so plainly.
What is wallet tracing?
Wallet tracing follows the movement of funds across wallets, services and chains, and attributes the addresses involved to the exchanges, businesses or individuals behind them, wherever this can be established. See Digital Asset Intelligence.
I think I have been the victim of a crypto scam. What should I do?
Start a case and describe what happened, including any wallet addresses, transaction records or communications you have. We will assess what can realistically be established and what avenues, such as tracing funds to an identifiable exchange, may be open.
Do you work with exchanges, law enforcement or regulators?
Yes, where appropriate. Findings can be prepared to a standard suitable for law enforcement, regulators and legal counsel, and we support your advisers in making the relevant requests through the correct channels.
Field Operations
Do you have people who can work in any country?
Hydra coordinates field investigators, verifiers and local liaison wherever a matter requires it. Work is always conducted lawfully, under the law of the jurisdiction concerned. See Field Operations.
What is executive representation?
Executive representation is professional representation in meetings, negotiations or conferences on your behalf, carried out by experienced, well briefed professionals chosen for their skill and judgement.
Is surveillance legal?
Surveillance and observation are only conducted where lawful and proportionate to the question being asked, and are documented to an evidential standard throughout.
Private Client
What is the Hydra Consigliere?
The Hydra Consigliere is a discreet problem solving service for complex personal situations that do not fit neatly into a single category. A single senior point of contact understands the whole matter and brings in the right discipline or professional adviser, working lawfully and alongside your existing advisers. See Private Client.
Can you help with a family or relationship matter?
Yes. Private client matters, including family related investigations and relationship investigations, are handled by a small, senior team, with particular care and reported to you alone.
Working with Hydra
How do I start a case?
Use the Start a Case form to tell us what has happened and what you need to establish. A senior member of the team will review it personally and come back to you, typically within one business day.
Do I need to know exactly what I need before I contact you?
No. A clear account of the situation is enough. Part of the initial assessment is helping you understand what can realistically be established and how.
Can you work alongside my lawyer or other advisers?
Yes. We routinely work alongside legal counsel, accountants and other professional advisers, and coordinate our findings and reporting to suit however your matter is being handled.
What happens to the information I share with you?
It is treated in strict confidence and used only to assess and, where instructed, to progress your matter. See our Privacy Policy for further detail.
